Neonatal diarrhoea (ND) is an ongoing issue on farms, causing increased mortality and the worsening of piglet quality at weaning due to a decrease in average daily gain (ADG), leading to weight loss. It also increases the workload in the farrowing area and necessitates the use of antibiotics for control. Previous studies estimate that neonatal diarrhoea causes between 5-24% of pre- weaning mortality and a reduction in ADG by 8-14 grams per day.
