HIPRA ARGENTINA hosted the HIPRA University “Challenges of Edema Disease: How It Affects Gut Health and Pig Performance”. Held during the second week of April, the events brought together more than 50 producers, veterinarians, and farm managers from Argentina’s main pig-producing regions.

The three-day program took place across the provinces of Córdoba, Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires, offering a comprehensive look at edema disease—from its diagnosis and prevalence in Argentina to its impact on gut health and animal productivity.

The sessions featured presentations by leading industry professionals, including Fernando Greco, Enrique Dei, Nicolás Gelotti, Gustavo Fickel, Mariano Rodríguez, Mariano Agosto, Adrián Perdomo, and Sofía Fagot, who shared field experiences, technical insights, and control strategies.

HIPRA’s technical team also presented prevalence studies conducted in different regions of the country, along with successful case studies involving the use of VEPURED®, HIPRA’s purified recombinant Vt2e vaccine developed specifically to combat edema disease.
With this initiative, HIPRA reaffirms its commitment to continuous education and knowledge exchange, key pillars in addressing health challenges in the swine sector and advancing toward more efficient and sustainable production.
