ANEMBE has become a key event in the bovine sector’s calendar in Spain. Staying true to its commitment to innovation and excellence in veterinary medicine, HIPRA once again participated as a prominent sponsor.
The company had a double stand that became a key meeting point, both for the more than 60 guests and for the Portuguese team, who also attended the congress accompanied by a representative group of their clients.
In this edition, HIPRA invited Dr. Christopher Chase, Professor in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at South Dakota State University (SDSU).
Chase, a recognized authority in bovine immunology, made a notable contribution to the official program of the congress by delivering the lectures “Key Concepts in Immunology and Vaccinology” and “The Mess of a Thousand Vaccine Types: Live, Multivalent, Subunit?”. He also participated in the roundtable “Vaccines,” where key topics on vaccinology and practical use of vaccines were addressed.
In each of his presentations, Chase explored the most relevant concepts of immunology and vaccinology, offering a very practical approach aligned with real fieldwork needs.
Chase also played a key role in HIPRA’s symposium: “Control of Major Bovine Viruses. Beyond Vaccines”, alongside HIPRA experts Laura Valls (Diagnos Manager), Marta Gibert (R&D Researcher and Project Leader), and Margarita Barreto (Head of Southern Spain Technical Services).
During her intervention, Laura Valls clearly presented the fundamental concepts of laboratory diagnosis, emphasizing its relevance and crucial role in supporting clinical diagnosis. She placed special emphasis on proper sampling and sample shipping, and clearly explained the function and interpretation of key diagnostic tests such as PCR and serology, among others.
Marta Gibert, in turn, provided an educational explanation of the vaccine development process, from the initial idea to the final product ready for veterinary use.
Lastly, Margarita Barreto shared results from an interesting survey on vaccination habits conducted among veterinarians across Spain in 2024. This study led to an informative poster presented at the same congress under the title: “Viral Vaccination Programs in Bovine in Spain: A Descriptive Study.”
